Groundbreaking Ceremony for Key Infrastructure Projects in Cà Mau: Hòn Khoai Sea-Crossing Bridge and Cà Mau – Đất Mũi Expressway
Both projects officially broke ground on August 19, 2025, and are expected to be completed and put into operation by 2028.
Hòn Khoai Sea-Crossing Bridge
The project has a total length of over 18 km (including 17.3 km of the main bridge and 0.87 km of the access bridge to the island), with 4 lanes, a width of 16.5 meters, and a design speed of 80 km/h. The total investment capital is approximately VND 25,700 billion.
The bridge will adopt advanced construction technologies, including bored piles and steel pipe piles for deep-water foundations, a composite steel–reinforced concrete beam structure, and a 150-meter navigational span using a steel arch design.
Upon completion, this will be the longest sea-crossing bridge in Vietnam and among the longest in Southeast Asia.
Cà Mau – Đất Mũi Expressway
The Cà Mau – Đất Mũi Expressway will stretch approximately 81–92 km, divided into two sections: Cà Mau → Cái Nước (~42 km) and Cái Nước → Đất Mũi (~39–50 km).
The project is designed to Class A expressway standards: 4 main lanes plus emergency lanes, a design speed of 100 km/h, and a roadbed width of about 24.75 meters. The total investment, including land clearance, is estimated at around VND 59,000 billion.
