Groundbreaking Ceremony of Gia Bình International Airport Project (Bắc Ninh)

On the morning of August 19, 2025, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, through the Mobile Police Command, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Gia Bình International Airport Project (Bắc Ninh). This is one of the nation’s key projects, launched in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2nd).

The master plan covers an expanded area of nearly 1,960 hectares, spanning the communes of Gia Bình, Lương Tài, Nhân Thắng, and Lâm Thao. The airport is designed to meet ICAO 4E standards, serving both civil aviation and national defense. It is positioned as the core hub of the international airport network in Northern Vietnam, contributing to economic growth, national security, and elevating Vietnam’s regional standing.

  • Phase I (by 2030): Construction of two runways, a passenger terminal, and a VIP terminal, with a designed capacity of approximately 30 million passengers and 6 million tons of cargo per year.
  • Phase II (by 2050): Following 2030, the airport will be expanded to four runways, with capacity increased to 50 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo annually.
