Po Nagar Cham Towers in Nha Trang – A Cham Cultural Heritage Site

The Po Nagar Cham Towers in Nha Trang (also known as Yang Po Inư Nagar) is a Cham temple complex built between the 8th and 13th centuries, situated on a 10–12 meter-high hill at the mouth of the Cai River in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa Province.

The name “Po Nagar” in the Cham language means “Mother of the Land,” associated with Goddess Thien Y Ana, who is revered by locals as the deity who taught them farming, weaving, and other essential skills for a prosperous life.

The complex is considered the largest Cham architectural site in Vietnam, consisting of three main areas: the Gate Tower, Mandapa (forecourt), and the Main Sanctuary Area. Over time, five main structures remain, primarily located within the Mandapa and Main Tower areas.

Po Nagar Towers are not only an extraordinary Cham cultural and architectural heritage, but also serve as an important spiritual and pilgrimage center for the people of Nha Trang and visitors from across the country.
