Preparation for the Groundbreaking of the Cat Lai Bridge Project in Ho Chi Minh City (to replace the Cat Lai Ferry)

The Cat Lai Bridge Project will connect Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) — at Nguyen Thi Dinh Street — with Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai Province, crossing the Dong Nai River. The project is proposed by Construction Corporation No.1 – JSC (CC1) and will be implemented under the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model, with a total investment of approximately VND 19,000 billion.

The bridge will be a cable-stayed structure with a total route length of about 11.3–11.6 kilometers, including a main bridge section of about 3 kilometers. The cross-section will feature eight lanes (six for motor vehicles and two mixed-use lanes) with a design speed of approximately 80 km/h.

Construction is expected to commence in early 2026 and the bridge is scheduled to be operational by 2028.
