On October 21, 2025, Lonely Planet announced its “Best in Travel 2026” list, featuring 25 top destinations and 25 outstanding travel experiences worldwide. Vietnam’s only representative, Quy Nhon, was praised for its pristine natural beauty, stunning beaches, distinctive Cham culture, and delicious cuisine.

According to Nitya Chambers, Lonely Planet’s Executive Editor and Vice President of Content, this year’s list celebrates destinations that embody strong local identity and showcase the resilience of post-pandemic tourism.

Known as the “green gem of Central Vietnam”, Quy Nhon is famous for scenic spots such as Eo Gio, Ky Co, and Hon Kho, as well as Cham relics like Banh It Tower and Twin Towers. The city is also renowned for its local specialties, including fish cake noodle soup (bun cha ca), shrimp pancake (banh xeo tom nhay), and fresh seafood. Alongside Quy Nhon, other notable destinations recognized by Lonely Planet include Cádiz (Spain), Utrecht (Netherlands), Cartagena (Colombia), Phuket (Thailand), and British Columbia (Canada).
