Implementation of the Cái Mép Hạ General and Container Port Project in Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu Province
The Cái Mép Hạ General and Container Port Project is located in the Cái Mép – Thị Vải area, Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu Province, and is invested in by the Geleximco – International Transport and Trade Joint Stock Company (ITC Corp) – SCIC Consortium, with a total investment of approximately VND 50,820 billion (around USD 2 billion).
The project is implemented on a site covering an area of approximately 351.2 hectares, with a scale comprising a container port and general port system with a total berth length of approximately 7.5 km, container yards, warehouses, logistics infrastructure, and auxiliary works. The port will be capable of receiving the largest container vessels in the world (up to 250,000 DWT / 24,000 TEU), with a total designed capacity of approximately 10.8 million TEU per year.
The project is officially implemented in three phases: Phase 1 is expected to commence operations in Q4 2028; Phase 2 in Q1 2035; and Phase 3 in Q1 2045.
