Con Market – Da Nang

Con Market, built by the French in the 1940s on a large sandy dune, is one of the most famous and bustling traditional markets in Da Nang. Originally just a temporary market, its prime location near the interprovincial bus station quickly turned it into a major trading hub of Central Vietnam.

In 1984, the market was renovated and renamed the “Da Nang Trade Center,” but in 2012 it was officially restored to its original and beloved name – “Con Market.”

Today, Con Market is not only a traditional shopping venue for locals but also a popular tourist destination. The market offers a wide range of goods, from clothing and household items to local specialties and fresh or dried seafood. Its highlight is the food area, divided into an indoor Food Court and an outdoor Street Food zone, featuring countless Central Vietnamese delicacies such as bánh bèo (steamed rice cakes), mì Quảng (Quang-style noodles), bánh xèo (crispy pancakes), sweet soups, smoothies, ram cuốn cải (spring rolls with mustard greens), and grilled squid.

Con Market stands as a cultural and culinary symbol of Da Nang, preserving traditional values while embodying the vibrant spirit of a modern city.
