Groundbreaking Ceremony of Passenger Terminal T2 – Cat Bi International Airport (Hai Phong)
The Passenger Terminal T2 project at Cat Bi International Airport, with a total investment of approximately VND 2,689.8 billion (~USD 100–130 million), is developed by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV). Officially commenced on August 19, 2025, the project is among the key national infrastructure works launched to celebrate Vietnam’s National Day (September 2). It is designed to address the current overcapacity at Terminal T1, which was originally built with a capacity of 2 million passengers per year.
The project covers a total floor area of 23,200 m² across two above-ground levels, with separate departure and arrival halls. It will be directly connected to the aircraft apron through four passenger boarding bridges (jet bridges): three Code C bridges and one dual bridge capable of serving either one Code E aircraft or two Code C aircraft simultaneously.
In its initial phase, the new terminal is designed to handle 5 million passengers per year, with expansion planned to reach 10 million passengers per year by 2030.
At the same time, Terminal T1 will be upgraded to accommodate around 3 million passengers per year, bringing the total capacity of Cat Bi International Airport to 13 million passengers annually by 2030.
The project is expected to be completed within 18 months after land clearance and handover
