Groundbreaking of Five Urban Railway Lines in Hanoi

The Five Urban Railway Lines Project is being implemented by the Hanoi People’s Committee, with a preliminary total investment of approximately VND 1,315 trillion (USD 49.6 billion). The project aims to establish a modern, integrated urban railway network that connects Hanoi’s city center with surrounding satellite urban areas.

The project comprises five urban railway lines with a total length of approximately 303.5 km, extending across multiple districts and suburban areas of Hanoi:

  • Urban Railway Line 1: Yên Viên – Ngọc Hồi – Nội Bài – Thư Lâm – Thường Tín – Tam Hưng – Thượng Phúc – Dân Hòa
  • Urban Railway Line 2: Nội Bài International Airport – Trần Hưng Đạo – Thượng Đình – Thường Tín – Tam Hưng – Thượng Phúc – Dân Hòa
  • Urban Railway Line 8: Sơn Đồng – Mai Dịch – Ring Road 3 – Lĩnh Nam – Dương Xá – Hòa Lạc
  • Urban Railway Line 10: Đông Anh – Võ Chí Công – Ring Road 3 – Ring Road 2.5 – Times City – Đông Anh
  • Urban Railway Line 14: Cầu Thăng Long – Hồng Hà – Gia Lâm

The project officially broke ground on 22 June 2026 and is expected to be substantially completed by 2030.
