Viettel invests USD 1 billion to commence construction of a High-Tech Weapons R&D Center and a Data Center

Project 1: An Khánh Data Center

The An Khánh Data Center is being developed on a land area of 1.9 hectares, with a total investment of VND 17,500 billion (approximately USD 600 million), located in Hoài Đức District, Hanoi. The facility has a designed capacity of 60MW, and is expected to become the largest data center in Northern Vietnam. Phase 1 is scheduled to commence operations in Q2/2026, and by 2030, the facility will be upgraded to Viettel’s second Hyperscale Data Center.

The project is designed in alignment with the Government’s Net Zero commitment.

Project 2: Viettel High-Tech Research & Development Center (R&D Center)

The Viettel R&D Center is invested at VND 10,000 billion (approximately USD 400 million), covering an area of 13 hectares at the Hòa Lạc Hi-Tech Park. The development will comprise six smart buildings, forming a key R&D hub capable of managing the entire cycle from research – design – prototyping – to production of high-tech products.

Notably, the center will focus on military equipment and defense technologies that meet national security requirements, fully developed and produced in Vietnam.

Both projects officially broke ground on August 19, 2025, as part of a nationwide program marking the commencement and inauguration of 250 major projects in celebration of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2). Completion for both is targeted by 2030.
